Designing new services for agency

An agency CEO reached out to me on LinkedIn to ask if I was interested in doing consulting work. I started the relationship with a month-to-month retainer where I provided value shop services, and traditional consulting and design. Within 10 weeks, I generated $42,500.

Context: An agency CEO reached out to me on LinkedIn to ask if I was interested in doing consulting work. I started the relationship with a month-to-month retainer where I provided value shop services, and traditional consulting and design. This outlines one of the several projects we worked on together.

Challenge

One of the agency’s clients was not planning to renew their contract. I did a deep-dive into the client history to see the results of the previous engagement with the agency. I also performed due diligence on the client company through the recent PPM which indicated the client was in need of turnaround services.

Outcome

Through a collaborative effort, I worked alongside the agency CEO to design a personalized service offering targeted specifically at the client’s needs. Our effort resulted in the agency CEO leveraging the new approach to renew the client for a 90-day $30,000 contract.

Process

Through my research, I learned there was room to perform more thorough research through empathy mapping, persona canvas, customer journey, and having a system in place to A/B test landing pages as we continued to learn more about each potential customer.

Based on the needs of the agency’s client, I prototyped a potential solution set.

The agency CEO introduced me to the CEO of the client company during an on-site visit where I pitched the new approach. Through the conversation we had on-site with the client, he expressed interest and saw hope in this new direction forward. He asked for a timeline and proposal. I went home unpack the vision I had in my mind into more clear and concise strategy.

I shared pictures of the above with the agency CEO to start a dialogue around how to integrate this into the proposal. I transcribed the concepts into a Google Doc to start the collaborative process of he and I co-creating a new approach to proposals for the agency. He shared the next draft with me, I provided feedback, and while he finished the proposal I designed a high-fidelity version of the timeline to include the proposal.
